The ERS HERMES European examinations in adult and paediatric respiratory medicine are open to respiratory professionals aiming to earn the European diploma (European diploma category) or for those who simply want to keep up-to-date with developments in the field and test their knowledge against their peers (self-assessment or in-training categories).
The exams are knowledge-based and are comprised of 90 multiple-choice questions each.
Sitting the exam for the ERS HERMES European Diploma
Participants sit the European diploma examination in order to gain international recognition, improve their CV, boost mobility, benchmark themselves and recognise areas for improvement. In several countries, this examination is mandatory or recommended for final-year trainees.
Sitting the exam for self-assessment or in-training assessment
You can also sit the examination as part of a self-assessment exercise or as an in-training assessment. Participation in either of these two categories will not lead to the European diploma and it is not possible to convert to the European diploma after the examination.
Following completion of the examinations, individual feedback according to the syllabus topics will be provided to allow participants to progress. Those eligible will be awarded the European diploma if they pass the exam.
The cost of registration for the ERS HERMES examinations is additional to the congress registration fee:
Notes:
- Registration fees shown above are for ERS members only. For non-members, a surcharge of €100 applies. Find out more about becoming a member.
- You do not have to register for the ERS International Congress to sit the ERS HERMES examination.
