A: This year’s virtual ERS Congress will provide excellent scientific symposia on a wide variety of basic, translational and clinical topics and advancements. In addition, the current pandemic has highlighted the importance for respiratory medicine as a whole, and the planned sessions on all aspects of SARS-CoV2 will provide a unique opportunity for exchange of knowledge between experts in the field and all our early career professionals who have been very important in fighting this disease. The
early career member session is a highlight for me, as we provide an overview of the opportunities and activities for our ERS early career members.
In addition, we will hand out the Early Career Member (ECM) Award to an excellent ECM who has significantly contributed to respiratory medicine. This year’s virtual event will allow early career members who may not always be able to travel to the ERS Congress to attend the whole conference and interact with their peers and experts in the field. Moreover, I very much enjoy the positive energy coming from in-depth discussions during poster and oral communication sessions, and I look forward to meeting a lot of you as early career professionals during one of these sessions.
